It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hello, bookish friends!
Hope you have all had some good reads this week!

Jean Harlow

While on the plane back from Melbourne I read this book on my iphone, which I was excited about because the sample from ibooks was so interesting and I usually love ghost stories.  But the story ended up being a bit blah, and nothing amazing happened, other than a tree falling on a house. Oh well...

I also finished reading Little Women, after finally putting all other books aside
and concentrating on just this one!

I really loved all the little lessons about relationships and character that were taught in this book - I had so many aha! moments. After about 8 weeks of reading this book in snippets, I will quite miss this little family!

Now I am looking forward to reading these books about night creatures by Marianne de Pierres:

and

I'm loving the book covers!

Each Monday I head over to Book Journey to link up with Sheila's weekly meme,
as there are so many lovely people there:

Come and join in!

xx

  1. Would love to know how the Marianne de Pierres books go - I have been interested in reading them. This weekend I have finished two books - I have read Snow White and the Huntsman and Arena One - Slaverunners (reviews on the blog this week) I am currently reading The Meryl Streep Movie Club

    1. I LOVED the Snow White and the Huntsman book - so good! Not sure if the Meryl Streep Movie Club book will be my thing - I always try those club type books, thinking the camaraderie between the characters will be inspiring, but they end up leaving me a bit cold. I think I need to find more books like Little Women! xx

    1. I'm glad there is much more to read by Louisa May Alcott. I've just downloaded all of her works onto my iphone, and will dip into a new one every few weeks. Although some parts are sad, I found Little Women just so uplifting and the perfect guide for young girls and wives. :)

    1. Both of the covers here I took from ibooks, and I agree, they were the prettiest! I thought Beginner's Goodbye was a good read but I just would have liked something wow to happen at the end. All the wow was at the beginning. :)

    1. They're definitely aimed at teenagers, but so far the writing is very good and the world de Pierres has created is something new. :)

  5. What a contrast in genres. It will be interesting to find out what you think of the De Pierres novels.

    1. You're right - lol! I find if I swap between genres the books stand out more and don't all blend in together. :)

    1. Little Women is just so beautifully written! And this cover gives an idea of the warm, family feeling you get from reading the book. :)

    1. I bought the 'real' books for two reasons; one - Marianne de Pierres is so friendly to her readers, and two - the covers! I love the effect of the photo combined with the splashy, drippy paint. Just too cool. :)
