What I Wore Wednesday - Blue and Grey

I'm joining in with The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday. I never think to take a photo of what I wear until I realise it's Wednesday again, and then I drag my poor son around until he's got a decent shot of me (posing is not my forte!) So you only ever get one photo, and it's usually, what I wore on Tuesday!

I have to take more notice of where I buy my clothes. I'm pretty sure the grey skirt was from my sister, and the top I can't quite remember, I think it was from Roads. The black belt was from Sportsgirl.

My bracelets were from my sister; my necklace, I can't remember; my watch, from my friend Cheryl, and my earrings from my friend Genevieve.

Come and see what everyone else is wearing here. xx

Screen Idols - Red Carpet Beauties

I love award shows, but after all the recent ones, it was easy to predict the winners of the Oscars.
I skimmed through a lot of the Red Carpet show, because I think it's a bit insulting to turn a prestigious awards show into a fashion show, but I couldn't help but adore some of these dresses:

Ellie Kemper (from Bridesmaids) How well does her dress match the colour of her hair?

Penelope Cruz, looking like a classic Hollywood starlet - beautiful!

Emma Stone (from The Help): Wow, WOW, sensational!

Cameron Diaz: This dress is pretty and matches her hair perfectly!

Octavia Spencer (The Help): This dress is so flattering, and up close it was a shimmering delight!
I am so glad that she won best supporting actress!

Now I really want to see Hugo and The Artist; they look like really unique and clever films.

Did you have a favourite dress from the Red Carpet?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

I found this gorgeous book in the newsagency on the weekend. I couldn't resist it as there are always new ideas in books like this. Besides, I fell in love with the cover, and there are coloured illustrations like this all the way through:

I'm also still reading Emma, which I am finding to be exactly as I thought, laborious.

Nothing ever happens in this story, but I don't mind the characters, so I will continue on. Are you a fan of Austen books? Or do you find them to be longwinded and boring?

I'm linking up with Sheila at the Book Journey to find out what everyone else is reading. Join me!

Sunday Session - Legendary Ladies

There has been much excitement over Adele lately, especially with her winning a whole lot of Grammys the other day.

You may have noticed I like finding mash-ups of songs that add a bit of interest to each song.

In my search for Adele mash-ups, this one was by far the best, and made me reminisce about 80s music. Both of these ladies' voices are amazing, and I love the way the two songs sound together!

Head over to Thea's blog, Do I Really Wanna Blog for some more great, and perhaps quirky music!

Friday Funny - Deep Sleeper

Let's not dwell on this for too long, but during the Christmas hols, when Jonathon's Dad was staying with us, I fell asleep on the couch one day, and look what they did to me with an artline pen:

When they woke me up, they were looking at me funny, and then Jonathon handed me my mobile so I could see my face. I was too dozy to know what I was seeing at first, then it dawned on me and I said "Did you actually draw on me?"

Umm, yes. They did. Naughty!

xx

I am linking up with Tropical Mum where there are some more laughs:

Food for the Soul

I don't want to go all religious on you, but something I share very little of on my blog, is my family's life as members of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Recently we have had so many members and missionaries visit our home, that we have felt very loved by the people of our Church. We were offered the challenge this week to read from the Book of Mormon every day, something we have not done for awhile. I am not one to read books over and over; once I have read a book, I generally keep it, and never read it again! But with scriptures, the idea is to read them daily to keep hearing uplifting messages,
to provide food for the soul.

We all need uplifting on a daily basis. The world spins chaotically around us, as we go about our work, and it takes much courage to keep our heads above water. Sometimes, a quiet prayer, a verse of scripture, or a piece of music, can lift our spirits and remind us that Heavenly Father watches over us, he knows each and every one of us, and he is there to guide us as we travel these rocky paths.

I accept the challenge to read a chapter of the Book of Mormon every day, and will keep a record of my progress right here.
If your Book of Mormon is sitting dusty on your bedside,
maybe you would like to join me? xx
