365 Days in Nature 6

Here are the last pics from when we went camping at Flat Rock,
which is named after the rocky ledge at the edge of the water.

It was over all too soon!

365 Question Challenge - No.6: Today was tough because...

Just catching up on yesterday's posts!
Today was tough, because we had to say our goodbyes to two of the sister missionaries in our church
who finish their missions on Tuesday and head home.
Sister Berends and Sister Nolan are gorgeous girls and they will be missed!

I wish I had photos of them to share with you, but instead I will leave you with a short video about missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

All I can say is, don't be afraid or insulted by missionaries who knock on your door.
You can always politely say you're not interested in hearing the message they have to share, but if you take the chance, you may even find something you have been looking for. The message is about hope, comfort, how we can enrich our lives, and so much more. I have such fond memories of missionaries I have met throughout my life, and wish for other people to have those experiences too.

If you are interested, you can find out more about the missionaries here.

Love to you!

365 Question Challenge - No.5: What was the last restaurant you went to?

Last night, to celebrate my Dad's birthday, we went to see Jack Reacher at the cinema.
Even though Tom Cruise wasn't exactly the Jack Reacher I had in mind,
he was perfect in the role, and has still got his good looks and charm.
He also has the ability to not just portray a character but to actually become the character,
so I look forward to many more Jack Reacher movies!

After the movie, to answer the No. 5 question of the year, we went to Fast Eddy's,
where I totally indulged, and had an American Milkshake (chocolate and stawberry flavoured with whipped cream and spearmint topping, oh my goodness - heavenly!) and a bacon burger. So naughty, but had to be done! Forgot to take photos but the milkshake was something like this:

Mmm, mmm!
Such a good night out- we had a ball!

New Year, New Me

Last year I became besotted with the 1920's era with all it's sparkly dresses, long skirts, peter pan collars and mary jane shoes. Unfortunately it is difficult to find 1920's style clothes that are affordable and modest. Most dresses are quite short and sleeveless.

Meanwhile, I've also had a bit of an obsession with Wallis Simpson, as a fashion icon.
I loved the film W.E. which showcased some beautiful outfits,
copies of the original ones worn by the Duchess of Windsor.

After looking at the styles of the 40s, I realised that most of the styles I wore last year were actually influenced more by the 1940s than the 1920s. So, I am going to fully embrace the 40s era of fashion this year, and move on from trying to find inexpensive drop-waist dresses.

Don't be surprised if you see me wearing more dots, brooches, and belts this year!

365 Days in Nature 5

Waking up in the morning when camping, I opened the tent door and was greeted by this peaceful sight:

Imagine the warm sun on the sand, and the sound of seagulls nearby. Bliss!

Edging a little further out of the tent I saw this:

this

and this:

Yes, that is one of the boys from church hurtling down the dune on a sandboard!

I guess it's never too early in the morning for adventure!

365 Question Challenge - No.4: The best part of today?

The best part of today was taking down the Christmas tree and packing away all the Christmas clutter!
There is a certain point after Christmas when all the decorations just don't look so sparkly and magical anymore. I think next year I will take them down on New Year's Eve,
so everything is done and dusted before the new year starts.

How soon after Christmas do you pack away your decorations?

This is day 4 of the 365 Question Challenge which is inspired by this book:

Fire in the sky

Over at Thea's blog, A Snap, A Set and a Song, we have a whale of a time, compiling a photo, a collection and a song to go with a theme. This week the theme was Fireworks. On New Year's Eve we saw the Sydney fireworks at midnight on the tele and they looked like this:

Just a tad impressive! Love those colours!

Earlier in the day we watched the sunset over the ocean in Two Rocks, which I shared here.

So this week I created my fireworks set in homage to sunsets,
because they often have the same colours as fireworks,
and you can feel the same sense of awe with an amazing sunset.

My Song is not about fireworks or sunsets, but it is about fire.
(I'm so playing by my own rules this week!)
Have a listen to this one. You would have heard this song a million times back in the day, but don't be surprised if you feel nostalgic when you hear this tune and watch the video from the movie.
I did!

So good!
