Annie - Theatre Love

In Melbourne, we were lucky to see Annie the Musical!

For a start, the Regent Theatre, itself, was just beautiful, extremely ornate, I'm guessing art nouveau style.
I was told to not take photos inside the theatre, but I did manage to get these shots before that, hee hee!

And the show was good family fun! EVERYBODY knows the song Tomorrow, which I LOVE,
even if Annie sings it a kajillion times!

But there are some other great songs and dance routines too, especially Hard-Knock Life, by the orphans.

The cast was fantastic, especially those little girls, who are all about 10 years old, bless 'em!
Anthony Warlow, played the main role, and I was really impressed by the actor who played Grace, his secretary. I realised later, she also played Christine in Phantom of the Opera beside Anthony Warlow,
so, of course, she was brilliant.

The sets were magnificent, being mostly the interior of a millionaire's mansion in the 1930s, so that suited me right down to the ground!

I couldn't resist buying the Programme and CD on our way out.

There's nothing like bellowing along to songs from a musical when driving in the car!
I did that with the Wicked Soundtrack for about a year!

Catch Annie if you can!

A Snap A Set A Song - Feathers

I'm joining in with the theme of Feathers over at A Snap, A Set and A Song.
My interpretation is Blackbird, totally inspired by the song of the same name.

A Snap

I found this amazing art by Anne-Julie Aubry when I googled 'blackbird' images. This picture was so gorgeous, I instantly added The Nebulous Kingdom to my favourite etsy shop list!

A Song
I adore, adore, adore this song, which I first really got to know when listening to the brilliant Beatlesque soundtrack of I am Sam. I so love Sarah McLachlan's voice!

There is also a wonderful Glee version of this song, which doesn't have a video, but I'd love you to hear the harmonies of the Warblers - stunning! In this episode, Kurt's bird Pavarotti dies, and he asks his friends if they will sing Blackbird with him. I listened to both versions of the song about twenty times while preparing this post.
Goosebumps.

Up the River

As part of our recent adventures in Victoria we visited Echuca.
With both a historic street and a main street of shops, it was a great place for some pics:

We stayed overnight in this gorgeous Georgian Hotel.

The following day we went on a paddleboat steamer, called The Emmylou, up and down the river.

It was such a peaceful and relaxing trip!

Even the town's playground had a paddleboat steamer theme!
