Tuesday's Tune - Rihanna

I'm a bit in denial about loving Rihanna's music because she doesn't appeal to me as a person, with her abusive relationships, highly sexualised persona, and often skanky videos.

But, my word, she has an amazing voice, and really, I've loved every one of her songs.
This one is just beautiful.

Over at Tuesday's Tune there are some more good songs to enjoy. Go visit!

Tuesday's Tune - Mountain Sound

This week I've been hearing this song on the radio all the time!  It's so, so catchy and has a great melody. Actually I thought it was Marianne Faithful's voice when I first heard it! But then I googled the words in the chorus and found out it is a guy singing the verses! Woops!

Anyway I love it! Hope you do too.

I'm sharing this tune over at Thea's blog, where there are more cool videos to watch!

Just Give Me a Reason

Lately, this song has been on the radio every time we are in the car.
I feel a bit bad to admit that I didn't realise it was Pink until I googled the song.

But the combination of her and Nate Ruess threw me.

He has a very distinctive voice so I knew it was him
and I guess I just didn't think Pink would be a likely partner for a duet!

Nevertheless, this song is awesome, and I love the quirky video.

Songs from the Movies

It's Tuesday's Tune time, and this week we're talking Songs from the Movies.
The song I hear on tele all the time at the moment is on the ad for the movie Safe Haven
starring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel.

It's a song by Christina Perri called Arms. An unusual clip but pretty, pretty melody.

Tuesday's Tune

This song has driven me crazy today because I could hum it, but not think what it was called. I went through list after list of Jazz tunes on youtube and couldn't find it. After about six hours of listening to 100 favourite jazz tunes and the like,  I finally gave up and called my Mum. All I said to her was it's an instrumental and it's jazz and she started humming it straight away and knew the name and artist!
Sorry Google and youtube but my Mum's better than you!

So here is this wonderful song that I'm sharing for Tuesday's Tune.
Go Paul Desmond on the sax!
Hope it conjures up some nostalgia for you as it does me.:)

Go check out some more music at the Tuesday Tune's meme.

Tuesday's Tune - Wings

I love the harmonies in this song, but I'm not sure about the outfits and big hair!

The harmonies remind me of EnVogue. Remember them from way back in 1992???

365 Question Challenge - No.8: What song is stuck in your head?

This question coincides nicely with Tuesday's Tune over at  A Snap, A Set and A Song.

I'd heard the song, Payphone HEAPS of times on a So Fresh CD before I saw the video and I was so surprised at the choice of video. What I thought was going to be a soppy, romantic clip, ended up being a huge car chase with gunshots and car rolls, as though it was straight out of an action flick!
You gotta take a look at this one! (Although perhaps not with little kids around.)

(There are a few swear words throughout - sorry!)

Tuesday's Tune - The Presets

Just popping in quickly to share a new song from The Presets.

There is no dramatic video, or complicated lyrics, but the melody is so sweet, and the high notes are so angelic. When I hear this song, I am transported back to the New Wave pop of the 80s, like Phil Oakley's Together in Electric Dreams. Anyone who plays against me on Songpop, knows how much I love my New Wave music!

I've thrown the Phil Oakley song in too, for an 80s flashback:

That movie was so cute!

Tuesday's Tune - She-Wolf

This song is so good! David Guetta and Sia have done it again.

I love that the video follows the same theme as their last hit, Titanium,
in that the hunted becomes the victor. Soul-stirring stuff.

I'm joining up with Thea at Tuesday's Tunes, because when I hear an amazing song, I just have to share it!

Tuesday's Tune - Battle Scars

You won't see much of me at the moment on here, even though I have heaps to share, because it is report writing week! I need to keep my head down, and bum up, so please forgive me if I don't visit you this week! Just quickly, I will share a song that I've been enjoying. Guy Sebastian's voice is truly awesome in this:

I don't mind me a bit of rap when there is a pretty melody and soaring vocals to go with it.

Join up with Thea at A Snap, A Set and A Song to see some other songs people have shared.
You never know what you might find!

Tuesday's Tune - Owl City

This tune has got to be the happiest one on the radio at the moment! I discovered that you can download a Take 40 app on your iphone for free, and then you can watch videos without any buffering (Dear computer, when are you going to stop doing that??) Just be sure not to do it without wi-fi or you'll be paying a fortune!

Enjoy, and try not smiling while you listen to this fun song! Impossible!
Makes me want to go camping in summer.

I'm linking up with Thea at A Snap A Set and A Song for Tuesday's Tune, because music brings happiness!

P!nk - Try

When I saw the video for this song, Try, last week I was quite shocked at how raw and almost violent it was. But the images are actually very powerful, confronting and emotive,
and showcase P!nk's dancing prowess more than ever before.
I love P!nk; she has an amazing voice and is real.

I think the chorus has a beautiful melody, and I fell in love with it on the radio way before I saw the video.

I'm joining up with Thea at A Snap A Set and A Song  because music is healing when times are tough.

Tuesday's Tune - Birdy

Why am I only just hearing about this girl now?? I'd heard this song on the radio a few times, but I didn't realise, until I saw the TV ad for her album today, that it was sung by a 16 year old girl!!
Sublime. Angelic.
Please enjoy.
