Happy Monday!
Time to catch up on what everyone is reading!
(Lana Turner in They Won't Forget, 1937)
I have a heap of books on the go at the moment, because I keep downloading sample books from ibooks and reading the first 80 pages or so! The only 'real' book I am reading is
from the Hunger Games series, which I am loving more than the first book. I think I'm enjoying it more because, now that the people are beginning to rebel, they are not so oppressed. Also, I don't know the outcome, so I am turning pages quickly, to find out what happens!
On my iphone I'm reading:
and LOVING it! This book is similar to The Hunger Games in that it is in the young adult dystopian genre, but the people in the story do not seem to be as helplessly locked into the system as in the Hunger Games.
Also I have started
and
which are getting me back to one of my fave genres, ghost stories!
Have you read any of these books?
I am linking up with Book Journey to see what all my bookish friends are reading:
Have a great week!
xx
So glad you're loving Divergent, it made my favourite read list this year, along with the 2nd installment, Insurgent. I liked them even more than The Hunger Games series :)
ReplyDeleteCover of The Woman in Black is atmospheric!
Have a great week and happy reading!
It's interesting to think which life category people would choose from Divergent. I'm sure I wouldn't choose Dauntless - I'm too scared of heights for that! I'd probably be an Erudite, as my head is always in books! :)
DeleteSo much to read and so little time. You have some great books here!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I would read all day if I could. (And blog, lol!)
DeleteThe Hunger Games series is sooo good! And I really liked Divergent too! Hope you enjoy the rest of your reads this week :-)
ReplyDeleteI finished Catching Fire -s o good! Now I'll have to start Mockingjay and find out what happens next in the Hunger Game story! :)
DeleteI'm still waiting on getting Divergent from the library. I can't wait to read it because everyone seems to love it so much.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely page-turning! :)
DeleteI may just have to pick up Divergent (and Insurgent), as I'm seeing lots of book love for these two. As for The Hunger Games...I'm still on the fence.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
Here's MY MONDAY MEMES POST
If you can handle YA fiction like the Twilight series, you will be fine with The Hunger Games and Divergent. Also if you have read dystopian novels and those visions of possible futures have made you think, then you will also get a kick out of these two series. :)
DeleteHi...you asked about my thoughts on 11/22/63...loved it!
ReplyDeleteMy review is at http://laurel-rain-snow.blogspot.com/2012/05/watershed-moments-review.html
I'm so glad you loved it! Off to read your review now. :)
DeleteWow, all great choices! Hunger Games and Divergent are two of my favorites!

My Monday
The ideas for each of these books are amazing! Not too sure if I can relate to the main character Tris in Divergent, but I'll keep reading... Thanks for dropping by! :)
DeleteI've never read Phantom of the Opera. How is it going??
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!
What are YOU reading @ The Brunette Librarian??
I haven't read enough of it yet to make a judgment, but I have high expectations, as I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie and the theatre production.:)
DeleteI loved Phantom of the Opera! There is so much more in the book than they were able to portray in the musical.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me more excited to get into it - thanks! xx
DeleteI own Divergent but have yet to get to it (my brother loved it though!) - and I really, really need to read Phantom - love the musical so much!
ReplyDeleteMe too! And the soundtrack and the movie! Hoping the book lives up to my expectations! :)
DeleteI enjoyed the Hunger Games series. I recently saw the trailer for The Woman in Black that looks really interesting, I look forward to your review of the book
ReplyDeleteShelleyrae @ Book'd out
Not far into it yet, but I'm enjoying the narrative - just getting into the spooky bit now... :)
DeleteI've read (and highly recommend) The Woman in Black. Susan Hill is a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm glad! I picked it up because I read the Man in the Picture, and that was so creepily good! I think Susan Hill is going to become a favourite of mine too. :)
DeletePhantom of the Opera is great book. I have Catching Fire and Mockingjay on my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite read last week was Swahili for the Broken Hearted by Peter Moore. Please come see what else I'm reading.
Catching Fire was really exciting, and I loved the idea of the uprisings. On to Mockingjay next! :)
DeleteI loved the Hunger Games Trilogy and can't wait to read Divergent!
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought that there'd be more great books after Harry Potter and the Twilight series? The Hunger Games and Divergent series have taken over! :)
DeleteVery nice list - love that you added one of my fave pictures of Lana Turner.. I also adore your header.. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI love the crispness of both of those pictures - I'm really getting into black and white pics and early movies. Thanks for popping in! :)
DeleteWomen in black? There is a book? I should get it.... :)
ReplyDeleteHere is myIt is Monday. what are you reading? .Do drop in.
I think the movie would be too spooky for me, although I enjoyed Sixth Sense and The Others, and I'm thinking they might be similar. :)
