Easter Fun at School

The children at Kindy always make an Easter gift for their families, and this year the inspiration for the crafts came from Clever Patch They have an extensive range of craft supplies, and they were quick to send my order. Their site and catalogues have heaps of easy craft ideas too.

The children made these cute chick-in-the-egg cards (with a variety of pastel colours for the spots and card), and they made chick containers to hold chocolates (Cleverpatch use foam for the feet, but I thought these pipecleaner feet were even cuter!) The children made one chocolate for each person in their family. I always love hearing the kids exclaim "Happy Easter!" to their parents, as they run out of the classroom at the end of the term, and hand them their gift.

The kids also made some Easter hats for our end-of-term Easter party. They cut out a pre-drawn cone shape, glued four strips of bright coloured glossy paper on a slant, taped three matching tissue paper streamers at the top, stuck one big sticker in the middle and three at the bottom, and attached some hat elastic with masking tape. Easy and colourful!

We had a game of Duck, Duck, Goose too, but as it is Easter time, we called it Egg, Egg, Easter Bunny! What a barrel of laughs! Hope your Easter preparations are going well!

My sister's birthday

Oh, so busy, it has taken me a week to make this post! Last weekend we went to my sister's house for a barbecue lunch, for her birthday. So yum! And we had heaps of time to play with the lovely Lily. She is too cute! Check out the smiles she is giving out now! Love, love love!

Red roses and a vintage lamp

I have just revived this little corner of our home, to give it a bit more personality.

(The photos are blurry because I took them in a hurry!) Firstly, I bought a new shade for this vintage lamp base that my Grandad made in the 60s. He made lots of things out of wood, and enjoyed whittling away pieces to make plaited designs and chains. I love it!

Also, at work the other day, a woman brought in tubs and tubs of red roses for free, because they were seconds, as some leaves had got burnt. I didn't even bother to take off those leaves, I think they have character the way they are.

There is a bowl in the centre (and, yes, I am going to buy a fancier one for here), that is holding all the stones that we have collected in our travels. So pretty!

The Parisian calendar is one I got late last year, so it is showing 2009 dates. That might be bad feng shui but too bad, the pictures take me away.

And, hey, I couldn't resist putting another Black Apple creation (one of the spring girls from last year) into the scene as well.

Loving the glow from the lamp and the dark woodiness of it all!

Marie Antoinette

Just watched this DVD and delighted in the colour and decadence. Kirsten Dunst was perfect for this role and looked stunning. I have to share some pics.

Pretty pretty pretty!

And here's a Marie Antoinette inspired video that I first saw over at Bits of Beauty.

Giveaway!

Rachel, over at the Shop Bug, is hosting a giveaway right now for Simag jewellery. You can win an adorable i love you necklace that looks like this:

I think that this would be an awesome necklace to give to your child as a comforter if they were just starting day care or kindy and finding it hard to settle (as a kindy teacher I see this all the time!)

I checked out the Simag etsy shop and there were heaps of other cute ideas too, my favourite being these:

Love them! Pop over to the Shop Bug to take a look and enter the comp!

5 minute makeover

We all have one of these drawers, the junk drawer. When you look closely, it's really all about stationery. Well, I popped into Kmart the other day and saw some $2 and $3 small baskets in a sale, and thought of this drawer. I couldn't bear to show you a before photo, but here is the after. It literally took 5 minutes to do, and I even have to take sneaky peaks every now and then just because I  love how much better it looks. So organised!!!

Wearing Alice in Wonderland

I haven't yet had the chance to see the new Alice inWonderland movie, but I know it's going to be spectacular! I thought I'd share with you the Alice in Wonderland inspired bracelet I made with the beads from Lady B's store in Tasmania. They have the BEST Pandora style beads!

Can you see all the Wonderland motifs? The flowers, the deck of cards, the crown, the rabbit, the red heart, the teapot, the mushroom, the clock, the cat, all interspersed with red, black and clear jewels? (Double click the photo for more details.)

I LOVE my Alice bracelet, and wear it as often as possible!
